In this episode, I'm going to talk about the three styles of Vyond and when to use them, the white board, the business friendly and the contemporary style. This episode is going to make the most sense. If you are a Vyond user, let's jump in.
My name is RuedRiis . I am a content creator and super user of Vyond . So today I'm talking about the three styles of Vyond and when to use them. So I recently hosted a webinar and in the Q and a session at the very end, I got the question. When to use what style. And it's kind of a difficult question because it all depends right as with everything, but I will try to give you some overall thoughts of mine on when to use the whiteboard style, when to use the business-friendly style and when to use my favorite, the contemporary style.
So let's jump into it. The first one is the whiteboard animation style. It looks like a hands. That draws on a whiteboard with a black stroke. So I think this style is very cool and clean. The brands that I've been working with that have chosen the whiteboard style. Love it because it is black and white.
It doesn't interfere with their brand guide. It doesn't mess up their. Their aesthetics, their facials, if they post this video on a landing page or on their social media channel. And that is a plus. So the black and whiteness of it is definitely something to think about when you use the whiteboard style, because it is, it's quite difficult to start using colors, although you can change the stroke and the backgrounds, but it's supposed to just be black.
Another reason why the whiteboard style is cool is because it's so consistent. It has a look and feel it has specific features in the way that it's designs with the characters and all the props that just look, it looks very good. And when I've been comparing Vyond to other whiteboard animation tools, this is the point that I always returned through.
Because the whiteboard style is so consistent, the libraries fits together. Everything is designed in the same way. Whereas if you use other whiteboard tools like tunely, or VideoScribe, you'll see that you will have a whole series of different styles mixed together. And that just doesn't look very. The white style is also very fast to animates.
Why? Because all the props and characters in the whiteboard style already has, they already have a inter effect. And this inter effect is the whiteboard animation hand. So whenever you pull in a new, a chair or a cat or whatever, this thing will already have an. And the answer effect will be the white board kind of appearance, the entire effect of her hand, that draws the thing.
So you can just fill your scenes with stuff, go to the next scene, fill that up with new stuff and it'll already be animated. No needs. Attach all these animations because they're already there. The white board style is great for tutorials. In the old days, the original whiteboard format was an artist that stood at a whiteboard with a camera behind him or her.
And it would break, caught this whiteboard being filled with cool explaining illustrations. And then they'd speed up. Recording in the post edit. So that's what we reassemble with this whiteboard style. And that's the reason why it's so great for tutorials, because that's what it's made for in the beginning.
It's also great for explain us when the brand you are. Kind of explaining for creating a video for, or the concept you're talking about, eh, likes the idea of this explainer video being a black and white and very clean. So those are my experiences. When I had the agency, we sold these videos to companies that liked the look and feel of like a black and white video with not too many crazy features and styles.
So that was the white board style. Use it for tutorials. Explain us, use it when the, if you have clients, if they like the simple simplicity of it, the black and white style and the use of, because it's so consistent and fast to animate, the next style is the business friendly and the most popular probably also, because if you have a lower price plan in the ons, the business friendly style is the one that you are going to use because you're kind of limited.
Less style go. I'm going to talk about in a minute, the business friend, this style is a very library and template. Rich. What does that mean? It means that. Business friendly is the style that has gotten the most love from the design and development team. I believe because it's there, there are so many props and backgrounds and seen templates to, to pick from.
And if you like to do storytelling. They have a very rich library of props and character actions for that much more so than with the other styles, which are all for explaining concepts and stuff. So storytelling is what the business friendly style is really great for in the beginning, in the agency days, we also used business friendly for explainer videos and people like that.
But as we moved up in the client size we got some resistance. Style. And why is that? It's because in my opinion, and in the client's opinion, it's kind of cut soon-ish big heads, big eyes. That is how children's cartoons look like. That's just something through these big headed characters that takes away a bit of that professionalism that you might be aiming for.
If you have a client who wants an explainer video and yeah. Maybe the fit between their cartoonish style and their brand and product is not the best. If that's the case and you don't choose the business friendly style. It's so rich in terms of libraries and actions and backgrounds and templates, and you're not doing a crazy story about someone going to the moon or being a secret agent or anything like that, that Vyond has created videos around using the business friendly style.
If you don't do that, you might want to consider it the third and last style of Vyond studio, which is contemporary, the contemporary. Is my favorite style. If you watch my YouTube videos, you will know that it's the style that I always use in my videos too. It's kind of mixing animations and I think it's aesthetically the best it has this flat design, whereas all the characters and all the props.
Made up of shapes that are pretty, you know, flat and simple and clean. You can customize the colors of almost everything, pretty much everything. So if you choose a car from the prop library, you can change the windows. You can change the color of the wheels, the lights, everything is customized. And why is that important?
It's pretty important. If you have a brand guide, like I have, I have to say green, yellow, orange, and blue collar that I use in pretty much all my courses and videos, and I need to be able to repeat it. The default Vyond colors with my call us. So the video looks like my video and not a Vyond video. And then if you sell videos to clients, you probably also want this this option you want to upgrade from premium to the professional plan, to be able to use the contemporary fully.
You do have access to the contemporary style with the premium. But what you don't have access to is the character creator. You don't have access to the contemporary style in the CA in the character creator. So if you need to create custom characters and you're working in the contemporary style, you do need the professionals.
I think that you can mix styles now I've covered all three styles, the whiteboard, the business friendly and the contemporary style. I think it's possible to make styles. You just, you should just do it in a various subtle way. So for example, I have my favorite area. Like an arrow prop, that one comes from the white belt library.
And I use that in the contemporary style videos. It's just an arrow. It's nothing crazy. So you can't really see that it comes from another library, I think. And it's just one thing in a whole context of contemporary animations. So you can do it like that. I don't think you should make it like 50 50 if you have.
Half of your props being business Renty and half of your props being whiteboard animated, it's going to look weird. Maybe you have that creative ideas, creative idea for how to do it. Try it out. See if it works. But my kind of rule of thumb is to don't make styles too much. Sometimes I make stylists, as I said, with a whiteboard arrow, I also use the business friendly backgrounds because I think there are more detailed and more rich in a sense, if I want a landscape with mountains and snow in the backgrounds, I choose the business friendly version of that, and then use contemporary assets on top.
That also makes sense. Just be aware of the fact that you probably can't change the colors of the background, then you can sometimes not all. So I hope you've gotten a little bit smarter about the three styles of Vyond and when to use them in your video. I think that just to recap that the whiteboard style is great for tutorials and explain us and the business friendly is great for storytelling.
If you're creating a scenario based learning, for example, you can tell a story using the business-friendly style and the contemporary style. Great for everything else. And if you are very serious about your innovation efforts, you want to sell to high ticket clients, you might get, you might want to dive deep into the contemporary style.
So jump into Vyond, pick a few styles, try them out, see how they mix and match and find your favorite and get really good at that. That is my number one. Thanks for listening today and have a great time animating I'll see you in the next episode.
