Why We Love Animation in Videos
There's a reason why animations is such a popular format. It makes us lower our guards, makes us take in information and loosens up complex matters through simple illustration.
Not everyone love animation. Some find it too childish. It reminds them of cartoons. But this is not the general conception about animation.
The explainer video format is known by most; a 60 second video that explains a concept using characters, props and illustrated environments.
But there's an even more interesting way to use animations. And that's in combination with real-life footage shot on a camera.
In this way, you can combine the personality of yourself with the simple and pedagogical qualities of animation.
You can either do it by layering animations on top of your footage. Or, you can animate fully-animated scenes and mix them into your video, so the video alternates between you talking and a voiceover+animations.
This is the way I've built most of my course lessons and YouTube videos, and it's a format that really engages the viewer to keep watching and take in the conveyed information.
Watch the lesson above to understand how I do this and how you can steal my simple process for adding animated scenes to your videos.
